ADDITIONAL INFO
For the past five years, APROCCURMA has been working directly with 124 women producers to establish coffee production from farms owned and managed by women. A significant number of women in the northern highlands of the Rodriguez de Mendoza province rely on coffee income to support their families. They use organic practices to manage just a few acres of land intercropped with shade trees, bananas, corn, and beans.
After carefully harvesting and sorting cherries, depulping, fermenting, washing, and drying is all done at the farm with micro-mills. The cooperative carries out activities that often go unnoticed but are crucial for producers who have small farms. Investments, establishing local warehouses, and preparing coffee for export are all coordinated through APROCCURMA, which ensures traceability and quality control throughout the post-harvest process. APROCCURMA also provides women producers with financing, training, and technical assistance to improve coffee quality. The cooperative strives to improve the quality of life for coffee producers and their families through internationally marketing producers’ coffee to gain improved premiums based on a reputation for quality and certification.

FARM INFO
This coffee is sourced from the Guji Coffee Export PLC, which is owned and operated by Girma Edema who has more than 20 years of experience. Coffee producers deliver their ripe cherries to Girma’s washing station where the cherries are sorted and immediately placed on raised beds and dried over a period of 15 to 20 days. The raised drying beds are carefully constructed to ensure proper air circulation and temperature control for an optimal drying process. Cherries are also turned regularly on the beds to prevent damage during the drying process. Girma’s control of processing, from drying up to the final export stage, preserves the coffee from damage and results in an exceptionally clean and sweet cup profile.

FARM INFO
We are so excited for the return of this incredibly special coffee from a farm owned by world-renown two-time Olympic running champion Haile Gebrselassie, the holder of 27 world records.
To facilitate the production of traceable microlots, the farm is separated into 46 identifiable plots, each with specific planted varieties and processing methods. And in addition to following socially and environmentally friendly practices and meeting the requirements for Organic and Rainforest Alliance certification, Yeppo Village offers local coffee farmers training opportunities in agronomy best practices and methods for increasing cup quality.
Haile says that he extends his personal life philosophy to the coffee business: “You need three things to win,” he says. “Discipline, hard work, and commitment. No one will make it without those three.”
He also organizes the Girls Run race in Addis each year, encouraging and empowering young women through sports.
