To'ak Chocolate is known for having the most expensive chocolates in the world, with some of their single bars costing up to $450! Why? The cacao is grown in Manabi, Ecuador, which is to cacao what Burgundy is to wine. Beans come from the rarest variety, pure 100% Nacional, which is over 5,300 years old. To'ak also promotes sustainability and conservation. Barefoot is proud to offer these one-of-a-kind chocolates.

Story: The weather was generous and dependable throughout the 2019 growing season. A soft touch during roasting and conching resulting in an unusually gentle dark chocolate with lovely notes of mandarine, orange blossoms, nuts, and coffee. Oh 2019, what a smooth and copacetic year you were!

Pairing Recommendations: This edition works great with a wide range of whiskies, from Scotch single malts to American bourbons. Zacapa 23 rum is amazing, as usual. Well-aged Cognac and Tequila pair very well. In the realm of cheese, opt for something creamy or nutty and not overly pungent: triple-cremes, mild brie, gouda, brebis, and Alpine-style cheeses.

Location: Ecuador
