Finca El Socorro's focus on details results in incredibly high coffee quality: First Place in the Cup Of Excellence 2013; Number 4 in past years; Coffee of the Year award at SCAA in 2012. Longtime friends and partners, we will continue to share their great coffees for years to come.
No matter how many times we cup Palo Blanco or throw it in the roaster to toast it’s tasty innards, we fall in love. A fan favorite for it’s clean distinct notes and utterly juicy body, this coffee knocks it out the park year after year. Big floral notes of orange and lemon blossom hit you in the dry aroma, while the the acidity is distinctly malic. Green grape and apple sweetness add to the well balanced body of juicy butterscotch. Not overtly sweet, but complex and nicely balanced like a great coffee should be.
We have been buying directly from Juan Diego and his beautiful family in the Fraijanes region of Guatemala for 6 years. El Socorro’s success is the result of strict quality control, from the management of the plantation, to the picking and the wet milling. The farm has an efficient ecological wet mill: it de-pulps coffee cherries dry, then transports the coffee and its pulp mechanically and recycles the water in the process. Then, the water is treated with clean production techniques, before allowing it back into the forest.
